Our July Athlete of the Month (better late than never) has been with us since the beginning of the year! She’s made so much progress, is amazing to have in class and consistently has a smile on her face!
When did you join CFU, and what made you walk through those doors?
I joined CFU in the beginning of the year. January 2, 2018 to be exact. Nicolle, a former coworker of mine and CFU member used to tell me all about CrossFit and how I should give it a try. I would always tease her about it, and say that it wasn’t for me. Over the Christmas holiday I saw an advertisement on Facebook from CFU saying they were looking for women to participate in a 6 week challenge. I signed up, completed my 6 weeks and have been committed since then.
Do you remember your first WOD, or your thoughts during it?
All I remember was thinking “when is this 28 minutes going to end” and how out of shape I felt!
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?
I love that its challenging yet so rewarding. There are things that I can do that I never imagined I would be able to do. I like that each time I go the workouts are different and that there are variations for each movement that adapt to your skill level. I love the group style classes, with the supportive atmosphere. Overall, I get to workout with great people and achieve personal goals.
What type of workouts do you enjoy the most?
I love doing any workouts that don’t involve running or burpees.
What’s one goal you have for the next year?
My goal for the next year would be to do all the WODs RX.
What would you tell anyone walking into CFU for the first time?
I would say its a place for everyone at every skill level. Don’t be intimidated, just get in there and do you!
What’s your greatest achievement so far, or what are you most proud of?
My greatest achievement thus far is being able to do consecutive pull-ups
If you could have a workout named after you, what would it be?
Hmmm…that’s a tough one. I love doing double unders and I need to work on my abs soooo
